So I did a little hacking back in my junior high days and there was always some small points that I have forgotten about till I saw a documentry about it all on tv last night before going to bed. Like the hacker orginization called 2600 stems from the frequency of a tone that you would use to connect to the automated switch in the old telephone system. And another interesting fact about it was the guy who invented the blue box (device used to call various places for free through payphones) was called Cap'n Crunch and he got that nickname cause he realized that this whistle that you could get in a box of CaP'n Crunch cereal made that 2600 frequency. So they could walk by a row of pay phones blow the whistle and disconnect everyone at once cause the switch would reset the call waiting for the next set of tones. This was also used to access the switch board so you could set up conference call rooms secretly inside the phones lines. Alas the very first secret chat rooms. =)
