It's all a big mess
Mar. 14th, 2003 09:41 amSo I couldn't seem to make the post from home because o fit but here's what happened...
A few nights ago I came home and my computer was making very odd clicking noises. Now I got instantly worried that one of the hard drives was failing. When I put my ear inside the computer the noise was coming right where my 80 gig hard(Cashmere) drive was. Needless to say I started to freak out cause I have ALOT of stuff on there.
Luckily I had just received two new 120 gig drives(Milo, Pooky, Sophie, and Keiko) and soI started transferring all 80 gigs to various parts on the other hard drives. This took ALL night. Yesterday morning I went to take out Cashmere and lay it to rest. I unplugged the drive and fired the computer back up and to my surprise to still hear the click noise. Turns out the cooling fan behind Cashmere was out of alignment and hitting the case at random intervals. So...
The end result... I have files thrown all over all the hard drives, Cashmere is back in it's home, and the offending fan is now in the trash. So now I'll probably have to spend the next few weeks trying to organizes files and move them to the proper places. Pretty sad when there's this much drama regarding computer hard drives. It's like some geek soap opera.
